Waxwork (1988), Witchboard (1986), + more

Beginning with the Waxwork itself...

Waxwork

A very unique looking home, located right across the street from the Marlborough School.  I couldn't find much history on the place.  It was built in 1924.  Very interesting building though, it definitely catches your eye.

Another house you see in Waxwork (1988) (actually, the first thing you see in the movie) has quite a cinematic history.

The house is known as the Higgins-Verbeck-Hirsch Mansion, and in Waxwork it served as the home of Mark (Zach Galligan).  But its film credits don't end with Waxwork.

The house was also the main location for the movie Witchboard (1986).

The house is featured in Willard (1971) and its sequel Ben (1972).  William Castle filmed a movie there called The Night Walker (1964).  It served as the frat house in Rush Week (1991), even appearing on the film's poster and VHS cover.  You can also spot it briefly as the attorney's office in Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark (1988).

In addition to film, the house also has several television credits.  It is most memorably featured in a season two episode of Tales From The Crypt (1989) titled Television Terror.  You can also spot the house in a season two episode of Beverly Hills 90210 (1990) titled Halloween.

The house has many other credits, including: Inner Sanctum II (1994), Life Without Dick (2002), Masked & Anonymous (2003), Secret Games 3 (1994), and more.

The current owners have restored the mansion, and it is now "retired" as a filming location.

  1. Wasn't this home featured in the music video "I'll see you in my dreams" by Giant?
