The recent film Hit And Run (2012) (which was released in theaters this past weekend) features the Rock Store, a location that was previously covered in this blog here.  This location was used as a diner in Friday The 13th: A New Beginning (1985).  It also made appearances in two season five episodes of The Wonder Years (1988).  Turns out it also appeared in a third season five episode of The Wonder Years titled Grandpa's Car.

The Rock Store is a well-known biker hangout, frequented by celebrities like Jay Leno, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Harrison Ford.  It has made several other on-screen appearances over the years, including the movies The Sweetest Thing (2002), Cobra (1986), and Panic In Year Zero! (1962).  In addition to The Wonder Years, it has also appeared in several other TV shows including episodes of Twin Peaks (1990), Dallas (1978), Charlie's Angels (1976), Monk (2002), and Falcon Crest (1981).  A few years ago, the location was the focus of a documentary titled Ed & Vern's Rock Store (2008).

The made-for-TV special Can You Survive A Horror Movie? (2012), which premieres on Chiller TV tonight (Friday The 13th), was filmed at Camp Nobebosco, the same camp where the first Friday The 13th (1980) was filmed.  You can check out my original post on Friday The 13th here.  The camp is also featured in an episode of the short lived MTV series Fear (2000) titled Camp Spirit Lake.

Mother's Day (1980)

Mother’s Day (1980) was filmed in New Jersey at the same time as Friday The 13th (1980).  The two films were shot in very close proximity to each other.

The lake in the movie is Fairview Lake in Stillwater, New Jersey.  The movie was shot near a local YMCA camp.  The house was located somewhere in this area, but it is unknown whether or not the house is still standing.

Even though both Wrestlemaniac (2006) and All Souls Day (2005) are set in Mexico, they were both filmed on the same set in California.  The Mexican village set used in both films is located on the Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch.  The burnt remains of Higgins Haven from Friday The 13th Part III (1982) is about a mile down the road, which was covered in an earlier post.

The diner where Lana works in Friday The 13th: A New Beginning (1985) is attached to the Rock Store, a famous biker hangout in the Agoura Hills.  The location can also be spotted near the beginning of a season five episode of The Wonder Years titled The Lake.  It is where Kevin first spots his summer crush, Cara.  The location was also used in a follow-up episode titled Back To The Lake.

The Pinehurst Halfway House is a place called Rancho Rosita.  The house, barn, and cabin are all located on the property.  The house has been used for other productions.  It was supposedly used for scenes in Chinatown (1974).

Friday The 13th Part III (1982) + more

IMDB                               IMDB

Higgins Haven from Friday The 13th Part III (1982) was located on the Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch in Newhall, California.  The lodge set was built from the ground up specifically for the movie.  The F13 team returned to the location to shoot the opening of Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984).  Though the lodge’s slasher movie credits didn’t end with the Friday The 13th franchise.  The location also served as the main setting for both The Zero Boys (1986) and Twisted Nightmare (1987).  The accompanying barn is also featured in all four movies.

The lodge set can also be spotted in Meatballs Part II (1984) as the Camp Patton Headquarters.

Sadly, the lodge set burned to the ground in 2006.  Arson was suspected.  However, the barn and the windmill featured in the films are still standing.  Supposedly, an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation had used the lodge shortly before the fire.  I could not find which episode it is featured in.
