The Gate (1986) was filmed at a house in the King Heights subdivision of King City, Ontario. I couldn't find much information about this location. Judging from the view on Bing, the backyard was used (minus the tree and pit, of course). Some of the interiors were filmed at Cinespace Studios in Kleinburg.
