The Wonder Years - Grandpa's Car

The recent film Hit And Run (2012) (which was released in theaters this past weekend) features the Rock Store, a location that was previously covered in this blog here. This location was used as a diner in Friday The 13th: A New Beginning (1985). It also made appearances in two season five episodes of The Wonder Years (1988). Turns out it also appeared in a third season five episode of The Wonder Years titled Grandpa's Car.

Ed & Vern's Rock Store

The Rock Store is a well-known biker hangout, frequented by celebrities like Jay Leno, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Harrison Ford. It has made several other on-screen appearances over the years, including the movies The Sweetest Thing (2002), Cobra (1986), and Panic In Year Zero! (1962). In addition to The Wonder Years, it has also appeared in several other TV shows including episodes of Twin Peaks (1990), Dallas (1978), Charlie's Angels (1976), Monk (2002), and Falcon Crest (1981). A few years ago, the location was the focus of a documentary titled Ed & Vern's Rock Store (2008).

Mortuary - Gull's Way Estate

Eve and Christie Parson’s house from Mortuary (1983) is located on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. The house is known as Gull’s Way Estate and has supposedly been used in over a hundred productions. In 2002, Dick Clark bought the property for $15 million. Unfortunately, he filled in the swimming pool, where Christie’s father is killed in the movie.

Hardcastle And McCormick

The house served as a primary location throughout the entire run of the TV series Hardcastle and McCormick (1983).

It has been featured in episodes of the TV shows Perry Mason (1957), Charlie's Angels (1976), Fantasy Island (1977), and The Rockford Files (1974). It most recently appeared in an episode of the ABC TV series Revenge (2011).

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

The made-for-TV movie Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (1973) was filmed in the Newhall Mansion, formerly known as the Piru Mansion in Piru, California. Built in 1890, the historic home has quite a resume in film and television. However, in February of 1981 it burnt to the ground. The owners were able to rebuild the home the way it was, which was finished in December of 1983.
