The Innkeepers (2011) is set at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, which is an actual inn located in Torrington, Connecticut.  The crew of House Of The Devil (2009) actually stayed at the Yankee Pedlar Inn while that movie was being filmed nearby.  It was during this stay that director Ti West came up with the idea for The Innkeepers.  On February 8th, 2012, a special screening was held at the Warner Theater in Torrington, located just across the street from the Yankee Pedlar Inn.

The titular house is located 20 miles away in Lakeville.  The large Victorian house appears to hold an attorney's office, known as Miller Tax Law.  The interior of the house was used in the film.  Since the film is set in the '80s, several alterations had to be made to de-modernize the house.  For example, a wall had to be built to hide a contemporary refrigerator.

Insidious (2010)

Insidious (2010) was filmed at two different Los Angeles homes.

First House
First House
First House

The first house is located in the Victoria Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.  The house was built in 1909.  For this house, the filmmakers set out to find a house that actually looked like it could be haunted.  A scene from the movie L.A. Confidential (1997) was filmed just down the road, where two men are gunned down in their vehicle.

Second House

Second House

The second house is located less than 3 miles away.  This house was intended to be smaller, suburban, and the complete opposite of the first house.  The interiors of both houses were used, as the low-budget production didn't have the money to build two sets for the film.

Prom Night (1980)

Prom Night (1980) was filmed in the Toronto area.

Langstaff Jail Farm

Langstaff Jail Farm

The abandoned building from the beginning of the film is a building from the former Langstaff Jail Farm, located north of Toronto.  The specific building was known as Cottage No. 1.  The facility was closed in 1958.  In 1982, not too long after Prom Night was filmed there, developers engaged in a bidding war over the property.  The land sold for $75 million, and the building was torn down in the early 1990s.  The land of the former Jail is bound by Yonge St on the west, Bayview Ave on the east, 16th Avenue on the north, and Hwy 7 on the south.  Since the building is no longer standing, the coordinates below do not necessarily give an exact location of where the building once stood.  However, it does take you to the land where it once stood.

The cemetery location is actually a location that was previously covered in this blog.  Behind Mrs. Hammond, you will see the Chapel of St. James-the-less, which was also featured in Killer Party (1986).

Killer Party - Chapel of St. James-the-less

As previously mentioned in the Killer Party post, the chapel was built in 1860 and was designated as a National Historic Site in 1990.  In Prom Night, you are looking at the opposite side of the Chapel than what was shown in Killer PartyKiller Party was filmed at the west entrance, while Prom Night was filmed at the east entrance.

Don Mills Collegiate Institute served as Alexander Hamilton High School.  The movie was filmed there in late August / early September of 1979.  Even though the school is located along the bluffs in the film, the actual bluffs are several miles south east of the school at the Scarborough Bluffs on Lake Ontario.
